2024 Bro. Dr. George Williams, Jr. Scholarship Award
The Lambda Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Baton Rouge, LA proudly announces its annual Bro. Dr. George Williams, Jr. Scholarship Award. Four one-time scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to area high school seniors. The scholarships are awarded based on students’ academic performance, leadership potential, participation in community service, volunteer hours and essays.
PURPOSE: The scholarship is named to honor our late chapter brother Dr. George Williams, Jr. who was a professor at Southern University for 55 years and a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for 67 years. The Lambda Alpha Chapter in alliance with our cardinal principle of Scholarship proudly supports education and uses this award as a means to aid worthy students.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD is based on academic performance, leadership potential, participation in community service programs including, but not limited to, volunteer hours. A recipient of the scholarship will be awarded a one-time $2,000* payment to go towards tuition, fees, books, and room and board at an accredited college, university or technical school. *Funds will be disbursed upon proof and verification of enrollment.
Scholarship contestants must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must have completed high school with a minimum, unweighted Grade-Point-Average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
Applicants must be accepted as a full-time student at an accredited college, university or technical school for the upcoming fall 2024 semester.
Applicants must be a citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States.
Applicants must complete and submit a scholarship application package by April 19, 2024. Late scholarship application packages will NOT be accepted.
APPLICATION PROCESS
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS MUST COMPLETE AND SUBMIT A SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PACKAGE TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Completed application
Written Essay (500-750 words) – Essay Topic: “How will your experiences and organizational involvement during high school assist you in being successful in college.”
Official transcript with GPA from current high school
Letters of references completed by a school official and community leader
Proof of acceptance letter from an accredited college, university or technical school
Current headshot picture of applicant
All scholarship application packages are due electronically NO LATER than April 19, 2024.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Scholarship Awards will be announced by May 1, 2024 and will be formally presented on June 9, 2024 at the Lambda Alpha Chapter Meeting

Purple Oaks Community Outreach Foundation of Lambda Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi is partnering with Buffalo Wild Wings at 7524 Bluebonnet Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70810 on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 ALL DAY to raise funds for the Purple Oaks Community Outreach High School Senior Scholarship Fund.

The Brothers of the Lambda Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. have begun phase two of our Chapter Monument Brick sale. Each brick can be between 1-3 lines of inscription with 20 characters per line including spaces and punctuation. Click the link at the botto,m of the page to access the order form. The deadline to order bricks is April 4, 2022. The Price of each brick is $100.00. The Bricks are open to any brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and/or any sorority member of the Pan-Hellenic Council.
